Multicultural Community Day 2011
Barnet Multicultural Community Centre is holding its annual Multicultural Community Day this year on Wednesday 1st June 2011 from 11am to 3pm.
For the past 12 years we have been organising and running this highly successful annual community day in which up to 45 organisations from the statutory and voluntary sector attend and provide valuable information to the 1500 or so members of the general public that attend. It is a great day of fun and information for the diverse communities of our Borough.
This event is aimed at children, young people, adults and elders of all cultures and backgrounds across Barnet.
The day, which will be attended by the Worshipful the Mayor of Barnet, promises to be another success in showcasing valuable statutory and voluntary sector services and activities for the whole community.
Barnet Multicultural Community Day aims to achieve the following:
* Increase awareness of health, voluntary and social services in a more relaxed and informal setting
* Promote understanding of different factors which encourage healthy living and safety in the community
* Share information and provide a platform for networking and developing partnerships within the local community
* Promote community spirit within the local community whilst developing cross cultural understanding
It’s an opportunity for organisations, community groups and service providers to strengthen links with each other and also enable and encourage the younger generations to meet with service providers in a comfortable environment. The Day serves as a valuable Community Cohesion event in Barnet and is popularly attended.
There will be an array of activities such as interactive workshops, live entertainment and childrens’ activities alongside the information stalls and exhibitions which complement the aims and objectives of the day (see below). Delicious food, including supervised Kosher, Halal and vegetarian, are also available on the day as well as a community raffle draw.
The event will take place at Barnet Multicultural Community Centre, Algernon Road, Hendon, London, NW4 3TA.
